Saturday it was wonderful to wake up to a view of the mighty Zambezi.
Then it was a rush against time to the Bible House in Blantyre. At the Malawian border an accident and diesel spillage caused delays. We had to wash our hands for cholera prevention and then a health official caused further delays. He explained that we needed Yellow fever certificates (even though we had been assured in RSA that it wasn’t necessary). He called me aside and said that he was prepared to issue certificates for us. I stated that it didn’t seem right. He then asked what we intended to do in Malawi and I explained that we came to encourage our pastor friends. Then I suddenly remembered about the Bible CD in my hand bag, which he accepted and then told me that we could go.
We could not find the Bible House on the “Dom-Dom”, but once in Blantyre managed to find it. It was 15:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon and to our joy four personal returned to unlock and enable us to buy 284 Chichewa Bibles. Willem tied the boxes onto my Cruiser’s roof carrier, but a sudden burst of rain along the road caused us to hurriedly find space for 12 boxes in the overcrowded vehicles. We followed Pastor Mark to Migowi and were thankful for a meal and readymade beds in their guesthouse.
Isaiah 9:2 “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light ; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”
Rom 10 : 14 “and how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? ”
