Village life is not easy.
Early morning the young girls walk to the borehole about a kilometre from here and return carrying 20liter cans of water on their heads.
Cooking takes place at an outside fire, so wood must be fetched, and water boiled for bathing.
Amid all the chores a sense of peaceful happiness reigns. The crops had failed due to the drought and the maize stores are running low, but nowhere will you see hunched shoulders or a worried face.
As I sat amid the ladies around the night fire, I enjoyed their friendly banter and impromptu singing.
The night was dark, and constellations hid among millions of bright stars, but in the darkness the milky way burst forth like a magnificent stream.
I felt overwhelmed with the greatness and goodness of God. He, our Creator, who knows each star by name, has also inscribed my name on His hand.
Isaiah 9:2 “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light ; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”
Rom 10 : 14 “and how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? ”
