Years ago I traveled with Griet, Daniël, Florence and Dewald in a pick up for six thousand kilometers.
We visited the source of the Zambezi before going to the Fischer’s mission to pray for a friend with cancer. This was where a seed was planted in Florence’s heart to start a preschool.
From here we travelled all along the Angolan border southward to see the hanging bridge over the Zambezi. All the time Daniël and I would wonder about the state God’s kingdom in that war torn area of Angola. We subsequently tried to go there but our visums did not come through.
Upon reaching RSA Florence met Hester who had just closed her own preschool . Hester’s husband had advised her just that morning to bless someone with the equipment and when she saw Florence she knew it was her. Sanette, who is a teacher had told me on a previous outreach that she would like to train preschool teachers and Bernard had offered to help drive if I needed a driver . So off we went, loaded with equipment to start Florence’s preschool.
What started as a small seed had now grown into a Christian academy up to grade 6 with teachers and classrooms.
I was overjoyed to see the kids in their uniforms.
Daniël arrived back from the Angolan border in time to have lunch with us . This turned into a celebration when he told us that they now have a branch church in Angola, west of Mongo.
After this short but joyful meet up, we rushed along the crisscrossing forest roads and reached the Kafue river delta in time to witness the splendour of the setting sun. The sky filled with gold and pink as the sun pulled its beautiful robe over the clouds and treetops.
Isaiah 9:2 “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light ; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”
Rom 10 : 14 “and how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? ”
